Participation Is the Path of Unity | Conscious Awareness, Growth & Embodiment
Participation Is the Path of Unity
When we are given or give directions without the awareness of where we’re going, be mindful.
Many people give advice from where they’ve been, what they’ve survived, what hurt them, what fulfilled or frightened them, and what they believe life is supposed to be.
Many share from experience. Many share from self-interest. Many share from a need to be right, to feel safe, belong, accepted, validated, protected, or in control.
This does not make us wrong or right.
It makes us human in the next step of our personal and collective evolution.
What I’ve come to realize is that we are often not simply sharing their past.
We are projecting a possible future reality.
And sometimes that future may become our experience if we continue believing, behaving, and relating in the same ways that created our collective past.
There is wisdom in listening. There is value in learning from others. There is also wisdom in remembering that their path is not our path and how we relate as we take each step is a dance between the seen and unraveling.
Sometimes, we do the very same thing to ourselves.
We project predictions of futures onto our own lives.
We create stories about what success has and will feel like, what love, life and healing should look and be like.
Yet, consciousness requires participation.
Not merely envisioning. Not merely hoping. Not merely believing.
But bringing what is envisioned into what is embodied through our consistent presence of attention and our response-abilities to relate.
Bringing awareness into action. Intention into participation. Possibility into practice. Participation is skin in the game equity in the co-creation.
It wasn’t until I experienced what others called success, love, belonging, and fulfillment that I began to see something deeper and unknown, unconscious and unexplored.
I began to recognize the depths of the shallows.
The places where fear disguised itself as certainty, comfort and commercialism came alive.
Where insecurity hid behind confidence, charisma and charm.
Where promises of a better tomorrow became substitutes for accountability today.
Where expectations, boundaries and standards replaced effort.
Where hope replaced curious participation.
I began to see that many, including myself, are not limited by what we do not know, but what we refuse to question.
We are limited by what we refuse to participate with honestly.
Love requires participation.
Relationships require participation.
Healing requires participation.
Growth requires participation.
Community requires participation.
Dreams require participation.
Consciousness requires participation.
Not tomorrow.
Not when circumstances change.
Not when someone else understands.
Now.
The future is not just created by promises, plans or ideas.
It is created by how we think, feel, speak, and behave in this ever present moment, by what we consistently embody, repeatedly practice, and willingly participate in.
Perhaps this is why awareness matters.
It allows us to receive the stories of others without becoming imprisoned by them.
To honor their experiences without abandoning our own senses of knowing where our feet, minds and hearts exist.
To learn from their projections without surrendering response-ability for our steps along the path.
Not everyone who offers directions knows your destination as well as you.
Not everyone who warns you of possible dangers can see the opportunities beyond their own horizon.
Not everyone offering guidance is free from their own self-interests.
Discernment is not judgment. Discernment is awareness of where we have been, where we currently are, what may be shaping our relational perspectives.
Whether their present direction aligns with the destination you are consciously choosing to grow towards.
Sometimes the journey is not about becoming who we think we should be.
Sometimes it is about becoming honest enough to fully participate in who we already are without the protections, projections and validation of how its been, what’s worked and what’s the best way to believe and be as a human.
A better tomorrow is not a promise that gets fulfilled with empty or comfortable words.
It is the natural consequence of our accountability, responsibility, effort, and willingness to embody today what we claim to envision for tomorrow.
Problems are only presented opportunities to apply what we believe to know without the commitment to being and be-coming a solution beyond it.
The life we experience tomorrow is shaped by the honesty, harmony and helping hand we are willing to practice today.
